La berbérine est un principe actif utilisé depuis plus de 2500 ans dans la pharmacopée traditionnelle ayurvédique et chinoise. En phytothérapie, elle est réputée pour son action hypoglycémiante mais elle possède de nombreuses autres propriétés thérapeutiques reconnues scientifiquement.

La berbérine est un alcaloïde végétal issu majoritairement de plantes du genre Berberis, comme l’épine-vinette, Berberis vulgaris.
