Cancer du sein : comment la mammographie conduit au surdiagnostic

Le dépistage des cancers du sein et son objectif, un diagnostic plus précoce pour mieux guérir, conduit non seulement à un surdiagnostic mais aussi à un surtraitement de la maladie.

Tout a commencé par une évidence a priori intuitivement inébranlable : plus on détecte tôt un cancer du sein, plus la lésion est petite au moment du diagnostic, meilleur est le pronostic. C’est l’impression que donne l’observation clinique superficielle en dehors de toute considération épidémiologique.
